I am going to inherit and wonder how much to invest in a home...?

I will get about one and a half million in real estate and investments...

When all is said and done, I would like to buy a little ranch someplace and live out my years away from people with my family.

Question: How much of my new portfolio should I use to buy this property. I have read that 50% in real estate is reasonable...

Also, is the property for the real estate portion of the portfolio bought outright or is it through a loan so that the money can earn more money in other investments?
