Someone posted an interesting investment possibility - buying a foreclosed home, fixing it up and renting it to somebody.

The idea sounds great - except that i have a speech and hearing impediment - i would need someone who could judge who a good renter would be and deal with the tenants, especially if they are a problem.

Is there such a thing as hiring someone to be a landlord and how much would it cost? Or do real estate owners always have to deal directly with tenants?

If the returns are good, you can hire a manager, not a landlord. Smiley you can hire a real estates manager to help you with all that.

You would hire a Property Management Company - most home and apartment rentals are handled by these experts!

Best wishes and good luck.

As said, there are property management companies that can help as much or as little as you want. Some just help with renting it, some take care of everything. Fees vary according to how much they do, but you can assume 10% to 15% of rental.  They may save you that much on maintenance by having their own staff, bigger buying power, and avoiding emergency plumber calls. They may even have properties they currently manage that they know might be available for you to purchase.

there are a bunch of companies that will do that for you.  go to a realator and ask them about the potential for doing this - they'll be able to put you in contact with some good local firms.
